Langit Senja · Our story

Built around the sunset

Senja means dusk in Malay. The retreat is built around it — eighteen villas turned west to the open sea, on a headland we have looked after for a generation.

Our story

Built into the headland, not on top of it

Langit Senja began in 2016 when a Kedah-born architect and his wife bought a neglected durian smallholding on the Pantai Kok headland, drawn by a single cliff-edge angle where the sun sets straight into the Andaman Sea.

Rather than clear the ridge, they built into it — eighteen villas threaded along the contour on stilts and boardwalks, so the rainforest keeps its canopy and the hornbills keep their figs. Langit Senja means dusk sky, and the whole place is arranged around that half-hour of light.

Today it is still family-run, staffed almost entirely by people from Kampung Kok and Kuah, and small enough that the team learns your name by the second morning.

From the founders

“We only ever wanted eighteen villas. Any more and you stop hearing the sea — and the sea is the whole reason to come.”

Guest words

The half-hour they came back for

We have stayed all over the island and nothing comes close. The cliff villa feels like it is floating, and the sunset arrives at your bed. We rebooked before we checked out.

Singapore · Villa Senja

Small enough that the whole team knew our children by name. The Lagoon Villa was perfect for the four of us and the kids barely left the pool.

Nurul Aina

Kuala Lumpur · Family Lagoon Villa

The rainforest room woke us with hornbills instead of an alarm. Breakfast on the deck in the canopy is a memory we still talk about.

Daniel Fischer

Munich, Germany · Rainforest Deck Room

An hour at Senja Spa and a table at the sunset pavilion — the most relaxed we have been in years. Genuinely warm Malaysian hospitality, not the scripted kind.

Priya Nair

Penang · Andaman Pool Suite

Booked three nights, stayed five. It is the quiet that gets you — no crowds, no noise, just the tide and the light doing their thing.

Hiroshi & Yuki Tanaka

Tokyo, Japan · Andaman Pool Suite

The staff arranged a private cove picnic for our anniversary without us asking twice. Thoughtful in a way big resorts never manage.
